Abstract
Objective To observe the influence of losartan on the blood pressure variability (BPV) in essential hypertension (EH).Methods 108 patients with EH underwent 24 hour's noninvasive ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) before and after 5 weeks' treatment with Losartan. Their BPV were analyzed and compared with normal controls (n=54).Results Before the treatment,BPV in EH group was significantly higher than the BPV in controlled group (P0.01).After the treatment,BP and BPV in EH group were significantly decreased (P0.01 or 0.05).Conclusion BPV in EH patients was significantly higher than that of the normal persons.Losartan can effectively decrease blood pressure and BPV.
