Abstract
Objective To compare the restoration effect of silver amalgam filling, bonded amalgam restoration and tetric ceram filling for treatment of proximal-occlusal cavity in molars. Methods Four hundred and sixty-five malors from 350 cases were randomized into 3 groups, and treated with 3 kinds of restoration methods, which were silver amalgam filling, bonded amalgam restoration and tetric ceram filling. Results The periodical follow-up in the first year revealed no difference in the restoration effect of 3 groups, and the success rates were 98.00%,100.00%,100.00% respectively. There was significant difference among these groups after three years, and the success rates were 71.33%,85.71%,97.32% respectively. The tetric ceram filling group was better than bonded amalgam restoration group, and the bonded amalgam restoration group was better than silver amalgam filling group. Conclusion Tetric ceram filling shows the best restoration effect, more suitable than other two methods, and the bonded amalgam restoration is better than silver amalgam filling.
