Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) coinfection and/or superinfection with hepatitis B virus(HBV) and hepatitis C virus(HCV) are very common because of their shared ways of viral transmission.They are mainly spread through exposure to contaminated blood or blood products,sexual contact and mother-to-child transmission.It poses a huge challenge for prevention and treatment of the HIV/AIDS coinfection and/or superinfection with HBV and/or HCV.With the extensive application of highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART),liver-related disease has become the main complication and causes of death in HIV/AIDS patients.This review will give a detailed introduction of the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS coinfection and/or superinfection with HBV and/or HCV,as well as characteristics of each virus and their interaction and strategies for treatment.
