Abstract

In order to overcome the difficulty in removing manganese from mine water,Fenton reagent was used to treat manganese mine water. In this study, the investigations were focused on observing the effects of H2O2:Fe2+,reaction temperature,H2O2 dosage,pH,reaction time on the treatment of mine water containing manganese using Fenton reagent. In addition, the study investigated the advanced oxidation mechanism of removing manganese using Fenton reagent treatment. The results show that the treatment using Fenton achieves a very good effect. The initial concentration of Mn2+ is 2mg/L.When H2O2:Fe2+ molar ratio is 3:1,the reaction temperature is 25°C,H2O2 dosage is 8mmol/L,pH value is 5,and the reaction time is 10min,the Mn2+ removal efficiency can reach 84%.Fe2+ with H2O2 generated by Fenton reagent with strong oxidation of ?OH can effectively remove Mn2 + from mine water.
