Abstract
A concise review on the past achievement and shortcomings of agricultural modernization in terms of researches and practices is conducted. After a comparative study,it is found that the lessons of conventional modernization of agriculture that developed countries have been realized should be warned. Also, China has to explore its unique approach of agricultural modernization which is characteristic of sustainable intensification, as well as to absorb the 'cream' of her traditional agriculture. Based on those analysis some strategies have been proposed.
