Abstract
A mixture of LaBr3 and Al2O3 is formed by the direct reaction of La2O3 with Al powder and Br2. AlBr3 is also formed with excess amount of Al and Br2. Vapor complex LaAl3Br12 forms at high temperature. After chemical vapor transport reaction for 24 hrs in the temperature gradient field, anhydrous LaBr3 is finally obtained.
