Application of Chinese medicine in type-2 early-stage diabetic nephropathy

Objective To study the medication pattern of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of type-2 early-stage diabetic nephropathy.Methods A literature survey on the medication pattern of randomized and controlled trials between 1984 and 2009 was conducted.Information from CNKI,wanfang data,CBM and CMCC concerning the use of traditional Chinese medicine and integrative medicine in the treatment of type-2 early-stage diabetic nephropathy was analyzed by Statistical Methods.Results 233 valid literatures,involving 138 kinds of herbs,were retrieved.The top 10 frequently used herbs were Astragalus,Salvia,Dogwood,Yam,Rehmanniae Root,Szechwan Lovage Rhizome,Tuckahoe,Angelica,Motherwort,and Rhubarb.Nourishing qi drugs were the most frequently used,followed by the drugs for activating blood circulation,nourishing yin,astringent,clearing heat,light penetration dampness,and dissipate blood stasis drugs.Conclusion In the treatment of patients with type-2 early-stage diabetic nephropathy,management of nourishing qi and yin as well as activating blood circulation are the basis of the treatment.A good therapeutic effect can be achieved when the treatment was complement with clearing heat,light penetration dampness,astringent astringent,dissipate blood stasis,expelling wind,and other drugs.
