Abstract
Wang Wei has always been known as Poetry Buddha because the moods in his poetry represent perfectly the state pursued by the Buddhism, especially Zen,in Tang poetry, which leaves no doubt about this term. But his mainstream of thought belongs to Confucianism when we seek deeply into his thought. He shows strong Confucian feelings in his life-long deeds, interaction, thought of poetry and pious belief in ethics.Buddhist thought is only a shelter for his painful soul and a panacea for his self-release,not his life belief. What is at heart is his strong Confucian feelings.
