Abstract

Objective: To investigate the optimum conditions for the extraction of flavonoids from turmeric by using methodology.Methods: On the basis of one-factor-at-a-time experiments,Box-Benhnken central composite design was applied to investigate the effects of ultrasonic power,ultrasonic time,liquid-to-solid ratio and ethanol concentration on extraction yield of flavonoids.Results: According to Box-Benhnken principle of design,the response surface method included four response factors and three levels determined good conditions,which were ultrasonic power 400.76 w,ultrasonic time 29.53 min,liquid-to-solid ratio 1:42.19 and ethanol concentration 79.60 %.In these conditions,the extraction yield of flavonoids was 11.15(mg/g).Conclusion: Considering the practical problems,the best extraction technology parameter for ultrasonic power 400 w,ultrasonic time 30 min,liquid-to-solid ratio 1:40 and ethanol concentration 80 % were confirmed.Three experiments were operated,results showed that flavonoids extraction ratio was 11.09(mg/g),and this condition was very close to the predicted value,absolute error was 0.057 %,so the experimental results and the model has a good agreement.
