Abstract
A water-soluble chitosan derivative, N-[(2-hydroxy-3-trimethylammonium) propyl] chitosan chloride (HTCC), was prepared by introducing quaternary ammonium salt groups on the amino groups of chitosan. The influence factors of synthetic reaction, such as the molar ratio of reactants, time, temperature and an amount of water were discussed. The structure of this chitosan quaternary ammonium salt are characterized by FT-IR、1H-NMR and chemical titration method. The antibacterial activities of quaternized chitosan against were explored. It was found that the antibacterial activity of quaternized chitosan against is much stronger than that of chitosan.
