Abstract
The colour reaction of a new reagent nitrobenzothiazolyldiazoaminoazoben zene(NBTDAA) with Hg(Ⅱ) is reported. At pH=9.5~10.0, NBTDAAreacts with Hg(Ⅱ) to form a stable red complex (1∶4)in the presence of Triton X 100. The maximum absorption of the complex is at 515 nm and the apparent molar absorption is 1.35×10 5 L·mol -1 cm -1 .Beer’s law is obeyed in the range of 0~12 μg/25 mL. The method has been applied to the determination of Mercury in waste water with satisfactory results.
