Abstract
Objective To study the relationship of levels of serum lactoferrin(LF) and bone mineral density in ovariectomized rats.Methods 60 female 4-month-old wister rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:sham-operated group(Sham,n = 20),ovariectomized group 1(OVX I,re = 20 ),ovariectomized group 2(OVXII,n = 20).OVX I rats were sacrificed in 14 weeks after the operation,and the other two group rats were sacrificed in 18 weeks after the operation. Bone mineral density(BMD) of the rats' left femur and lumbar was measured by DXA(Lunar Prodigy),and their serum E_2 was examined by ECLZA,as soon as,serum LF was examined by ECLIA.Results(1) Serum LF level of ovariectomized group was significantly lower than that of sham group(P0.01),but the comparison between two ovariectomized groups has no difference;(2) The levels of bone mineral density of OVX group was lower than that of Sham group(P0.01),but the comparison between two ovariectomized groups had no difference;(3) It was direct proportion between BMD and the levels of serum LF in OVX groups.Conclusion The levels of serum LF of ovariectomized rats is lower.There is direct association between BMD of the rats' left femur and lumbar and the levels of serum LF in the rats of 18 weeks ovariectomy.
