Study on the selection and prevention cure effects of the Chinese medicinal herbs against IBV

Experiment against IBV was carried out by cell culture on 40 Chinese medicinal herbs.Initial selection from 40 Chinese medicine herbsby CPE inhibition assay showed that only 5 Chinese medicinal herbs had the obvious effect on IBV. Further selection from the five Chinese medicinal herbs by plaque forming experiment showed that they all could inhibit the forming of the virus plaque in which Shi liupi had more obvious effects. Experiment against IBV by chicken embryo culture showed that the five kinds of herbs all decreased the pathological changes in which Shi liupi had most intensity. Different treating time had different effects on CPE inhibition, such as when treating 48 hours before planting IBV in cell monolayer there were 2 herbs which had significant inhibition effect.
