Study on Root System Formation and Its Regulation by Phytohormones

Research progress of root system development and its regulation by phytohormones were reviewed.Lateral root came from some special pericycle cells.The process of lateral root development could be divided into three parts: lateral root initiation,lateral root primordia formation,formation and activation of lateral meristem.Adventitious root was from root primordia.Adventitious root primordia could be classified into initial root primordia and induced root primordia according to the formation time,position and causation.Phytohormones such as auxin,gibberellin could promote root system growth.
