Abstract
Aim:To study the effect of perindopril on oxidative stress and myocyte apoptosis after myocardial infarction(MI) in rats.Methods:The model of MI was established by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery of rats, the survivals were randomized into two groups:Group P (perindopril group,n=15) and Group MI (n=15). 15 shame operation rats were as the control(Group C,n=15). 1 day after the operation, rats of Group P were treated with perindopril, Group MI and C with saline.4 weeks later, all the survivals were checked left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(dLVED), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and fractional shortening(FS) by echocardiograph,the content of superoxide anion (O2-) ,hydroxy radical were detected using colorimetric method, and the myocyte apoptosis was detected through TUNEL.Results: Compared with those of Group C,in Group P and MI, the dLVED was higher, the LVEF and FS were apparently lower (P0.05), meanwhile,there were significantly increase in the content of O2-,hydroxy radical and the myocyte apoptosis index (MAI) (P0.05).Compared with thost of Group MI, dLVED was lower, LVEF and FS were apparently higher,and the content of O2-,hydroxy radical and the MAI in Group P were apparently lower (P0.05).Conclusion:Perindopril, which can improve the oxidative stress and reduce the myocyte apoptosis, could effectively improve the left ventricular remodeling, enhance the left ventricular function.
