Abstract

The amphoteric graft copolymer was synthesized by copolymerization of starch with acrylamide, acryloyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and 2-acrylamino-2-methylpropanesulfonate in aqueous solution. The influences of concentration of initiator, reaction temperature, reaction time, concentrations of solubilizer and concentrations of EDTA-2Na on the monomer conversion, grafting ratio, intrinsic viscidity and solubility were investigated.Following is the optimum reaction condition: mass concentration of initiator,0.1%;monomer/starch(in mass),7∶3;reaction temperature,50 ℃;reaction time,4 h.The grafting ratio, monomer conversion, and intrinsic viscidity achieve 217.92%,(93.74%,) and 543.31 mL/g,respectively.
