Abstract

Objective To observe the changes of serum high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) levels in patients with cerebral infarction in order to investigate the relationships between the levels of hs-CRP and pathogenetic condition of cerebral infarction. Methods The serum levels of hs-CRP were measured in 148 patients with cerebral infarction and 80 healthy people, and the correlation with the scale of clinical neurologic deficit were analyzed. Results The levels of serum hs-CRP in patients with cerebral infarction were significantly higher than that in healthy controls(P0.01).There was a significant difference among different clinical subtype groups of cerebral infarction(P0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between the level of hs-CRP and the scale of clinical neurologic deficit in patients with cerebral infarction(r=0.618,P0.01).Conclusion The high levels of serum hs-CRP are highly associated with the occurrence of cerebral infarction, and the level of hs-CRP may reflect the degree of cerebral infarction.
