Abstract

EPEC is a major cause of infantile diarrhoea,particularly in developing countries Recent research showed,interactions between EPEC and host cells entail several distinct steps and have classically been viewed as a three stage process In the first stage,localized EPEC adherence to epithelial cells,the second stage of EPEC pathogenesis involves the production of bacterial proteins the third stage of EPEC infection is intimate adherence and the role of Tir Some EHEC attaches to cells in the human gut epithelium by attaching/effacing(A/E) lesions
