Abstract
The effect of Y on corrosion behaviour and corrosion morphology of AZ91D magnesium alloys in NaCl solution were studied and analyzed by salt spray test, scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results indicat that the corrosion rate of AZ91D magnesium alloy increases with increasing the corrosion time and the solution concentration. However, the corrosion rate of AZ91D alloy decreases obviously with the addition of Y.The corrosion rate of AZ91D alloy with the addition of 1.28%Y increases first and then decreases with increasing the corrosion time and the solution concentration. The corrosion resistance is the best in the range of experiments. The corrosion morphology behaves as non-uniform corrosion. The corrosion products are mainly consisted of Mg(OH)2 and MgO.
