Abstract

Objective:To study the clinical efficacy and safety of Bacillus Licheniformis Capsules combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine decoction in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods:Sixty patients with chronic intermittent UC were randomly divided into two groups: trial group(n=30)and control group(n=30).The patients in the trial group were given Bacillus Licheniformis Capsules(500mg,3 times daily)combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine decoction, and those in the control group were given Traditional Chinese Medicine decoction only for 8 weeks.Clinical effects and safety were compared between two groups. Results:After treatment, there no significant differences in the overall clinical efficacy, relief of clinical symptoms, remission in colonoscopy between the two groups(P0.05).The score of main symptom of trial group's lower than control group's(P0.05).The follow-up from sixmonths to one year showed there were 3 cases of relapse in the trial group while 12 cases of relapse in the control group. Conclusion:Bacillus Licheniformis Capsules combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine decoction is faster than Traditional Chinese Medicine decoction only on control symptom of UC and could diminish the recurrence rate as well.
