Speciation Analysis of Lead and Cadmium in Contaminated Soil by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

Abstract

Soil contamination by heavy metals and its ecological effects have been the hot topics in scientific researches,and speciation analysis of these heavy metals in soil was the first step to discuss the migration and bioavailability.Lead and cadmium in contaminated soil from southern of Jiangsu province was speciation analysis by BCR sequential extraction and determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry.The linear equations for lead and cadmium were found to be A = 0.036C(mg·L~(-l))+0.009 and A = 0.400C(mg·L~(-1)) + 0.020 with the relation coefficients(r) 0.9960 and 0.9890.The total amounts of lead and cadmium were found to be 603.3mg·kg~(-1) and 21.8mg·kg~(-1),respectively.The distribution pattern of mass fractions in lead was reducibleexchangeableresidualoxidigable,but for cadmium was presented as exchangeable≌reducibleresidualoxidigable.The different distribution characteristics of different heavy metals in soil conditions were contributed to the different process and mechanism of chemical action in soil conditions,and therefore exhibit different biological characteristics.
