Abstract

Objective: To investigate the graduate students' command of the knowledge of medical statistics and their demand for this course to provide objective basis for the establishment of teaching content, teaching form and teaching time in medical statistics. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among the medical graduate students from Inner Mongolia Medical University in the Grade of 2011. Results: 10 % of 229 students surveyed had a command of basic statistical methods. 80 % of them failed to have much knowledge of,or could not apply, advanced statistical methods. Those who could use basic methods of experimental design took up 30 % of the total. 85. 1 % of them were interested in the course of medical statistics. Conclusion: Medical statistics is of great necessity to the medical graduate students ' design of scientific subject and analysis of the data. Teaching content, teaching form and teaching hours in medical statistics should be allocated reasonably to improve the research ability of the medical graduate students and to raise their level of scientific research.
