Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship expression of p73 protein and tumorigenesis and progression of patients aged between over 60 years old and less than 60 with lung cancer. Methods In 110 cases of lung cancer and 34 cases of adjacent tissues of cancer,S-P immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of p73 proteins in tissue samples. Results The positive rates of p73 in lung cancer were 62.5% and 76.3% respectively, which were higher than that in adjacent normal lung tissues(P0.05).p73 protein expression was associated with lymph node metastasis and gender in older people(P0.05),but was not associated with the size of tumor, histologic type, pathological stage,TNM stages and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).p73 protein expression was associated with gender in younger people(P0.05),but was not associated with the size of tumor, histologic type, pathological stage,TNM stages and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).Conclusions The enhanced expression of p73 proteins in the patients with lung cancer suggests that they may play important roles in the pathway of carcinogenesis and progression.p73 protein expression makes a difference in the tissues between older and younger patients with lung cancer. The ehnanced expression of 73 protein may promote the ersion and melastasis of lung cancer in old patients.
