Abstract

Objective To appraise the effect of adopting dexamethasone to seal off the root canal on preventing endodontic interappointment emergencies(EIE).Methods A hundred and eighty-three cases of root canal treatment were enrolled.After root canal filling,they were divided into two groups,a group with patients with obvious teeth pain caused by acute periapical inflammatory pain and a group with potential EIE patients,in whom dexamethasome was administered in root canal and periodontal membrane,respectively.Results The effective rate of dexamethasone on controlling endodontic interappointment emergencies was up to 97.27%.Conclusion Dexamethasene can effectively prevent the occurrence of endodontic interappomtment emergencies and relieve teeth pain.
