Morphologic observation of left coronary artery of pig heart

Objective To observe the anatomical structure of the left coronary artery of pig heart,to provide the basal data for comparative anatomy and to enrich the data of experimental animals.Methods The coronary artery of forty-six pig hearts were perfused with 0.88 mol·L-1 perchloroethylene.Then forty cases of them were fixed by 1.75 mol·L-1 formaldehyde,left coronary artery and its line feed were displayed by hand-made stuffing and its branch was observed.Other 6 cases were made into the arterial casting mould after the hydrochloric acid corrosion,the coincidence and the scope of blood supply of left coronary artery were observed.Results Thirty-eight cases were right predominant,two cases were left predominant.The coronary artery in pig heart included left coronary artery and right coronary artery.The left coronary artery was grossus and superficial,it is between left auricle and pulmonary trunk and had the branches of anterior interventricular branch,circumflex branch,diagonal position,left conal artery,branch of sinuatrial node,ramus marginalis sinister and so on.The ramus marginalis sinister was descendent along with left cardiac border about 2～3 mm into cardiac muscle.Conclusion The morphosis of left coronary artery is similar to that of human.
