CAI Yuanpei's "Academic Thought Freedom and Coexistence ofDifferent Schools of Thoughts" and Its Practical Significance

Abstract

Mr.CAI Yuanpei fought for the cause of culture and education in China all his life.His rich in education,especially the invaluable experience based on his reform in Beijing University not only promoted the development of Chinese education and the academic prosperity, but also made Beijing University the cradle of the May 4~(th) Movement of 1919 and the original diseminator of Marxism in China.It influenced Chinese revolution deeply.In China,educational reform is being carried on deeply now.This idea is still enlightenment to our higher education today.This paper mainly discusses his Acadenuc thought freedom and coexistence of different schools of thoughts idea in running a university.Further more,this paper analyses the practical significance of this idea in today's educational reform.
