STUDIES ON FRUIT CHARACTERS OF VARIOUS VARIETIES OF SPINE TYPE CUCUMBER

The fruit characters of seventy spine type cucumber varieties were studied.By exploring analysis and testing of normality for single fruit weight,fruit length,fruit neck length and the ratio of fruit neck to fruit,each of which accorded with normal distribution N(0.206,0.017352)、N(32.8,2.602)、N(6.15,0.7672)、N(0.188,0.02262).The ranges of single fruit weight were 0.170-0.260 kg,fruit length were 26.8-39.3 cm,fruit neck length were 4.57-8.17 cm,the ratio of fruit neck to fruit were 0.13-0.25.The correlation of fruit length,fruit neck length and the ratio of fruit neck to fruit were significant,each of which was not significantly correlated with single fruit weight.Through cluster analysis for fruit length and single fruit weight of the seventy cucumber varieties,they could be classified into six types : short fruit with light fruit,short fruit with weight fruit,middle fruit with light fruit,middle fruit with weight fruit,long fruit with light fruit,long fruit with weight fruit.
