Abstract

The margin and inside of the Ordos Basin are all reformed in Mesozoic and Cenozoic. Two different kinds of structure belt exist around the Ordos Basin. They are compressional thrust nappe belt and extensional faulted depression belt.Faults develop regularly in the sediment strata of inner basin during the stage of late reformation and are controlled by basement faults.EW trending basement fault in the middle of basin. The structural characteristics are different in the north area from those in the south, they are divided by the EW trending fault belt in the middle of basin. In the north area,NE,NW and EW trending faults are all developed and more developed in the joint of basement faults of NE,NW and EW derection.NE trending faults are mainly developed in the south area. The faults developed in sediment strata of basin are controlled by basement faults.
