Abstract
The nature of ERP is the realizing of enterprise integration management and optimizing structure supported by modern information system.In this paper it is pointed out that ERP evolution process is the one continuously enlarging the enterprise planning bound in order to meet the need of the management requirement, and should still be the future developing trend. We also point out that in China a further understanding to ERP is occurred at the beginning of 2000, and shows its characteristics. By the discussion on several basic problems for ERP,we point out the inter -relationships between BPR and ERP. Then we point out that ERP software is a 'virtual' enterprise, and present the characteristics of ERP software, i.e. dividing the enterprise into entity and virtual parts in management mode and separating realizing model into enterprise one and software one in software.
