Abstract
Due to the advantages over the horizontal-axis wind turbine which is currently used widely, the vertical-axis wind turbine is achieving more and more attentions. The cylindrical vertical-axis wind turbine as well as its development is presented, and its mathematical model was constructed with the aim of minimizing the weight of the principal axis while maintaining its strength and stability. The results are satisfactory.
