Abstract
Marching Cubes algorithm is a primary technology used in the 3D reconstruction of medical images.The traditional Marching Cubes algorithm have some disadvantages,such as ambiguity,which may make holes.Marching Tetrahedra algorithm is an extensional algorithm of Marching Cubes algorithm,it doesn't have the disadvantages that Marching Cubes algorithm has,but requires much more computations. A method combining the advantages of both algorithms was proposed: in the case that a cube have ambiguity,then this cube was handled with Marching Cubes algorithm; while in the another case,Marching Tetrahedra algorithm was used to eliminate ambiguity. In this way,the improved method avoided the problem of both ambiguity and large amount of computations,it's a tradeoff of Marching Cubes and Marching Tetrahedra algorithm.
