Abstract

Methane hydrate formation is carried out at above 0℃(274.7 K),about 0℃(272.8±0.5 K) and below 0℃(267.4 K) in 20-40 mesh quartz sand. The results indicate the fastest formation rate of methane hydrate happens at above 0℃ and the methane hydrate distribution in sand layer is more homogeneous.According to the results the formation mechanism of methane hydrate formed at the three different temperatures is suggested.
