Abstract

Mr.Fu Huaiqing once said:the meaning of a word is explained by the illustrating words in the dictionary,and therefore the meaning of a prefix in the dictionary equals to the meaning of the morpheme in a Because Mr.Fu's view is not based on any case study,it has been regarded as a hypothesis.This paper wants to testify Fu's hypothesis through a case study and concludes that his hypothesis holds water to some extent,because a monosyllabic prefix in the dictionary differs from a morpheme in a compound.
