Abstract
Parallel wharf basin is a common layout in harbour engineering,which current and sediment siltation is different from other basin layouts,and there is lack of the calculation formula for this kind of basin in the past.In this paper,the current characteristics of parallel wharf basin are studied by 2-D numerical tank,and the siltation formula of parallel basin is obtained by theory derivation.Combining with results of observed data and sediment hydraulic characteristics of Yangshan harbor in Shanghai,the siltation of phase-1 and phase-2 basin in Yangshan harbor is calculated by this formula,and the result is coincident to the observed data.it indicates that the formula can be applied in Yangshan harbor,and prompted application to other parallel wharf basins further.
