Abstract

There is a collection of picture books published after 1949 in China in the reference room of Juvenile Children's Publishing House (JCPH) in Shanghai, and in the International Youth Library of Zhejiang Normal University. JCPH is the first publishing house especially for youth founded by the Party after 1949 when the People's Republic of China was founded. The publishing traditions of Shanghai in children's literature were inherited. These books laid the foundations for publishing picture books and children's literature in contemporary China.
