Abstract
Objective To investigate the bacterial contamination of oxygen humidification bottles in hospitals, work out prevention methods, and reduce nosocomial infection caused by bacterial contamination of oxygen humidification bottles. Methods In various wards of my hospital,180 used oxygen humidification bottles(used group),150 sterilized and installed bottles(sterilize and installed),and 100 sterilized and uninstalled bottles(uninstalled group) were checked randomly and bacteria were cultured and identified. Results The contamination rate of used group was 76.6%,that of sterilize and installed was 14.0%.Bacterial contamination was not found in uninstalled group. The difference in the contamination rate of the three groups was statistically significant(χ2=15.28,P0.01),and the comparison between the two of them also was statistically significant(P0.01).The comparison of bacteria distribution between two groups of oxygen humidification bottles has no statistical significance(χ2=1.83,P0.05).Conclusions To strengthen asepsis storage and installation of oxygen humidification bottles and replace used bottles are effective measures to reduce bacterial contamination of oxygen humidification bottles, prevent cross infection, and reduce nosocomial infection.
