Abstract
Objective To investigate the safety of propofol sedation using a target-controlled infusion (TCI) and the range of target concentration of propofol(Ct) for diffenrent surgery under epidural and/or spial anesthesia. Methods Twenty paitents under went operation at abdomen or lower limbs under epidural and/or spinal anesthesia. Target blood propofol concentration was initially set at 1.0 o g/mi. The level of sedation was evaluated using OAA/S score. New Target blood concentration was set at least after 3 rain, the delay between blood concentration at effect site, by increment of 0.2 μg/ml until OAA/S score was reduced to 3. To determined the Target blood propofol concentration at diffenrent OAA/S scores with corresponding Ct. Obsrve the NBP and SpO 2. Results The Ct for regional anesthesia sedation(OAA/S 3) were 2. 4~3. 6 μg/ml(unper abdoman A group), 1.5~2.5 μg/mi(lower abdoman or lower limbs B,C group).There was a significant correlation between group A B and C. There were no significant correlation between the HR, NBP and SpO 2. Conclusion TCI with propofol for sedation in paitents undergoing regional anesthesia has the advantages of being well controlled, appropriate sedation and less hemodynamic effect as well as effective restraining the stress reaction.
