Clinical analysis of 50 patients of advanced upper portion carcinoma of stomach

Objective To study the effect of radical subtotal gastrectomy and total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy and Roux-en-Y jejunal P-type anastomosis on upper portion carcinoma of stomach (UPCS). Methods The clinical data of 50 cases of UPCS during the period of 1994-2003 undergoing radical subtotal gastrectomy and total gastrectomy were analysed. Results The radical subtotal gastrectomy and total gastrectomy were performed in 50 patients, all patients alive after operation ,42 patients(84.0%) have been followed up the postoperative 1-,3-,5-years survival rate was 78.6%(33cases),59.5%(25cases),38.1%(16cases). Conclusion The radical subtotal gastrectomy and total gastrectomy on UPCS is still the best choice of treatment for prolonging patient's survival time and relieving their pain.
