Catalytic degradation of p-chlorophenol-contaminated water by Ni/Fe bimetallic

Abstract

Ni/Fe bimetallic catalyst was used to catalytically dechlorinate p-CP in water,and the reaction parameters such as the proportion,adding concentration of Ni/Fe,pH value,temperature and chlorine ion number were discussed in details.The results indicated that Ni/Fe showed very catalytic effect on chloro-phenol contaminated water;the catalytic activity achieved optimum at 2.95%,and the surface area of 2.95% Ni/Fe was 11.671 m2/g,4.33 times bigger than that of Fe0;p-CP's dechlorination efficiency increased with Ni/Fe's adding concentration between 3~12.0 g/L,but decreased with the increasing of pH value;and the reaction was proposed to be a endothermic reaction when temperature≤43℃;the catalytic property of Ni/Fe on chlorophenols increased with the increasing of chlorine atom number,which was probably attributed to ELUMO.
