Abstract

ve To review the pathological changes and improvement of maxillary sinus and ethmoid sinus mucosa in patients with chronic sinusitis before and after the functional endoscopic sinus surgery. Methods Thirteen articles covering about ten years were reviewsed. Results Pathological mucosa of maxillary and ethmoid sinus in patients with chronic sinusitis improved both histomorphologically and functionally. Conclusion Functional endoscopic sinus surgery is a valuable means in treating chronic sinusitis. To know the mucosal changes before and after functional endoscopic sinus surgery is helpful in postoperative care.
