Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship of body mass index(BMI) to Hypertension,Blood Lipid,Blood Glucose among middle-aged adults in Harbin,to provided basis for health intervention. Methods Height, body mass, blood pressure, blood lipid and glucose were determined in 2162 middle-aged adults having health examinations in a certain hospital of Harbin from the year of 2008 to 2009,who were divided, according to international standard, into groups normal BMI and abnormal,to find out the relationship of BMI to hypertension, blood lipid and glucose. Results Detection rates of overweight and obese of males and females were 66.6%,25.3%,respectively.Detection rates of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycosemia were significantly higher in males(42.1%,32.7%,23.4%,respectively) than in females(14.7%,0.3%,0.6%,respectively)(P0.001).Detection rates of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycosemia and their syndromes were higher in groups overweight, obese than in normal group(OR=3.80,4.03,3.41,3.77,respectively;P0.001).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that overweight and obese were risk factors of isolated diastolic hypertension and combined systolic and diastolic hypertension(OR=2.14 and 2.85),and also those of hyperlipidemia and hyperglycosemia(OR=2.16 and 1.85).Conclusion The overweight and obese rate is up to 51.8% in middle-aged personnel remaining in positions in Harbin.Control of body weight is of great significance in prevention and treatment of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycosemia.
