Abstract
Study on converting farmland to forest and grassland in Yellow river upstream and midstream is one of the most important research work, which relates to converting farmland to forest and grassland and the problem of recovering ecological environment and sustainable development.Based on some hypothesis and from the angle of maximum use of Shanxi Province grassland resource and through the way of raising livestock with grass to supply grain, its grassland resource(including converting farmland to grassland) and bearing capacity of population fed on grain are estimated maximumly. It provides scientific base for solving the problem of converting farmland to forest and grassland and ecological migration.
