Abstract
To assess the capability of methyl isobutyl ketone(MIBK) to separate acetic acid from water, the liquid-liquid equilibrium(LLE) data of the ternary system of water-acrylic acid-MIBK at 20,30,40℃ have been measured. The LLE phase diagram of the investigated system at different temperatures were given. The LLE data were correlated by using Othmer-Tobias and Bachman equations, respectively. The results show that correlation coefficients are more than 0.99,and standard deviations are less than 0.12.The distribution coefficients and the separation factors at investigated temperatures were calculated.
