Abstract

This paper tested the viscosity and elasticity of mixed and single polyacrylamide solutions with controlled stress rheometer and capillary breakup extensional rheometer. The results indicated that the viscosities of mixed polyacrylamide solutions were lower than those of single polyacrylamide solution. However some mixed polyacrylamide solutions possessed a higher elasticity than that of single polyacrylamide and the elasticities of some mixed polyacrylamide solutions were lower than those of the single polyacrylamide. The time of polymer solution flowing through capillary mainly depended on the viscosity of solution, but both the viscosity and the elasticity affected the flowing behavior of polymer solution through porous media. The difference of flowing performance between capillary and porous media revealed the elasticity of mixed polyacrylamide solutions.
