Abstract
Objective To study the clinical results of the plate-cement complex for spinal metastases. Methods ASIA grade was evaluated for grade A 1 case,grade C 7 cases,grade D 10 cases preoperatively. 18 cases of thoracolumbar vertebra metastases underwent vertebra resection and reconstruction with plate-cement complex. 7 of 11 cases of thoracic vertebra metastases underwent vertebra resection and reconstruction with plate-cement complex by anterior approach,4 cases underwent vertebra resection and reconstruction and internal fixation via anterior approach. 5 of 7 lumbar vertebra metastases underwent posterior fixation and vertebra resection and reconstruction from anterior in one stage and 2 cases underwent surgeries in two stages. First stage,spinal canal decompression and internal fixation by posterior appraoch,vertebra resection and reconstruction with plate-cement complex via anterior approach secondly. Results The lesions have been excised completely and the internal fixation have been done reliably. The back pain has disappeared with 4 to 28 months follow up. ASIA grade was evaluated grade A 1 case,grade D 5 cases,geade E 12 cases postopertatively. Conclusion Reconstruction with the plate-cement complex for treatment of spinal me-tastases can improve the patient’s life quality.
