Abstract
Objective:To study the antioxidant activity of Cuminum cyminum from Xinjiang.Method: Antioxidant activities of the samples were determined by three different test systems,1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical(DPPH),2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid(ABTS) and reducing power assay and the contents of total phenolics and total flavonoids were also tested.Result: Samples showed different antioxidant ability, the antioxidant of methanol and ethyl acetate extract were significantly stronger than the others;the contents of total phenolic and flavonoids of extracts had obvious difference. Conclusion: The results showed that their antioxidant activities have significant discrepancy, having close relations with extraction solvent and activity assay methods. It is extremely important to point out that;there is a positive correlation between antioxidant activity potential and amount of phenolic and flavonoids compounds of the extracts.
