Abstract

Objective To investigate the resistance of staphylococcus aureus to erythromycin and clindamycin and apply D-test for detection of induced resistance of erythromycin to clindamycin Methods Disk diffusion method was used to test the resistance phenotype of staphylococcus aureus according to the standards of NCCLs.The inducible resistance of erythromycin to clindamycin was checked by D-test Results Co-resistance to erythromycin and clindamycin accounted for 61.00% and 38.00% in MRSA and MSSA repectively. The rate of D-test positive was 22.4% among all staphylococcus aureus test, and it was 64.44% among the erythromycin resistant and clindamycin sensitive,The D-test positive rate of inducible resistance to clindamycin was 64.81% and 63.89% in MRSA and MSSA which were erythromycin resistant and clindamycin sensitive by individual disk diffusion test. Conclusion D-test for detection of inducible restance of erythromycin to clindamycin in staphylococous aureus should be checked in clinical microbiology laboratory in order to help the doctors choose correctly such as mccrolides and clindamycin.
