Abstract

Through a large number of contrasts between core and images, sum up a set of model diagrams which are used to recognize sedimentary bedding and sedimentary structures on FMI image data, and this approach greatly exert the advantage of FMI image data in sedimentary bedding recognition, effectively guide geologists to further search the potential information on the images, and provide an important evidence for the next step microfacies analysis.FMI images allow for analysis from different scales, through a combination of macro and micro, establish microfacies explaining board for detailed study of microfacies.Determine subfacies and microfacies mainly based on the sedimentary structures studied before and the conventional logging data, seismic data and so on.Determine paleocurrent direction and infer sediments provenance direction.Information allowed can make multi-well correlation, analysis and predict of spatial distribution of sand and the direction of thickening, which will be advantageous to later exploration.Applications suggested that: imaging sedimentology studies can not only save costs and improve accuracy of the sedimentlogy studies, but also improve the efficiency of oilgas reservoir exploration.
