Effect of Trifoliumpratense L. Extract on Apoptosis of BGC-823 Cells

Abstract

To investigate whether Trifoliumpratense L. extract induces apoptosis in gastric cancer cell line BGC-823.Cell proliferation was assessed by MTT assay.Morphological changes of apoptosis were observed with invert microscope apoptotic morphology was observed by staining the BGC-823 cell with AO/EB;DNA Ladder, cell cycle and apoptosis were examined by DNA agarose gel eletronphores and PI fluorescence flow cytometry (FCM),respectively.Result showed under the influence of Trifoliumpratense L. extract,BGC-823 cell exhibited changes of apoptosis both in morphology and in the characteristics of electrophoresis.Meanwhile the cell cycle also blocked in G2/M.The study indicated Trifoliumpratense L. extract could inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis in gastric cancer BGC-823 cell.
