Abstract
Based on analysis on vertical seal mechanism after fault motionless, this paper studies main controlling factors of vertical seal. It illustrates that fault plane pressure, mud content in fracturing belt and cementation by SiO_2 and CaCO_3 precipitation area main controlling factors affecting vertical seal of faults. Simulation experiment and cases shows that change in seal space(both cross sectionally and areally) causes spatial variety of vertical seal in a same fault(both cross sectionally and areally). Seal condition and mechanism evolution cause time variety of vertical seal in a same fault. Sealed object change causes variety of vertical seal capability in a same fault. With same condition, vertical seal capability for oil in stronger than that for gas in a same fault.
